Origin
The Big Kahuna wasn’t always so gentle. The very first guardian the island dreamed up was fierce — all volcano fire, sharp teeth, and a stormy scowl. But that’s not the kind of hero Waves needed. So the sea went to work on him: it filed down the teeth, rounded the smile, and traded the fury for a warm heart.
What rose from the tide was the big, friendly protector the Krewe knows today — proof that the strongest guardian is the one who keeps everyone calm. Now he stands watch over the island, holding the volcano’s fire and the ocean’s water in perfect balance. A true master of the elements, and the very first of the Waves Krewe.

Pearl began as a gift. Long ago, a gentle face wearing a string of pearls watched over the property — and the ocean loved her so much it decided to bring her to life. Deep in the reef, inside a shell that glowed like morning light, the sea placed its kindest treasure.
Pearl rose with a calm, glowing heart, and she’s been sharing it ever since. She’s the calm at the center of the Krewe — the one who turns worried days into wonder. Wherever Pearl goes, the water goes quiet and everything feels a little more like magic.

The Kap’n started as a real friend of the property — a seagull who showed up every morning like he owned the place. The Krewe gave him a captain’s cap, a smart little jacket, and the most important job on the island: to greet every single guest who arrives at Waves.
Steady, kind, and always first to the shore, the Kap’n runs his sunrise patrol without fail. He’s the friendly face at the dock — the one who makes you feel like family the moment you arrive.

The Wave Rider is the youngest of the Krewe and the one who keeps the fun rolling. While the others keep watch, she grew up chasing the horizon — learning every wave the only way that counts: by riding it.
Board under her arm and a lucky shell in her hair, she’s fearless, joyful, and always up for the next adventure. She’s living proof that courage and fun ride the very same wave.

Shelldon
Finder of Small Wonders
“The best treasures hide where nobody looks.”
Origin
Shelldon is the newest member of the Krewe — and the first friend Pearl ever made at the little tide pool at the quiet end of the shore. He’s a small hermit crab with a small, plain, slightly crooked shell, and for the longest time he believed he needed a better one before he could come out and say hello. Pearl taught him the words the whole Krewe lives by: you already belong — just as you are.
The whole story — the “empty” tide pool that wasn’t, the almost-hellos, and the morning he finally came out — is told in the very first Waves storybook, Pearl and the Empty Tide Pool.
